Ever get Userenv 1054 errors!

If you find that you are getting a load of userenv 1054 errors here is a possible solution.

It is likely that the machine is running over a relatively slow link and the slow link GPO policy is preventing download of GPOs.

Therefore you must edit the registry and enter a value to define slow links.

I have set and entry of 10000 in decimal.

I've recently come across this - turned out there was a UPS trapping the cable. IT was squashed flat!

Went from 10Mbps half-duplex to 1Gbps full duples with a simple cable replacement.

This seems to affect our Gigabit adapters more than others - and since we're getting more and more gigabit adapters I can only see this problem occuring more.

Thanks for the input. This does seem to be a very varied and irritating error.

I came across it again yesterday at work and that time it seemed to be DNS related!
